MINISTRIES

LIFE MINISTRIES

Because of the Great Commandment, (Mark 12:29-31), and the Great Commission, (Matthew 28:18-20), given by Jesus, we believe North Star Church has an obligation to assist people of all walks of life to get connected to Christ, to be built up and fully equipped to share their life in Christ with others. One of the most effective ways of accomplishing this is in the context of personal and group relationships. Thus, North Star Church offers LIFE Ministries as explained or defined below:

LEARNING: The Word of God, the Bible.
INTERCESSION: Prayer for one another and those who need to be connected to Jesus.
FELLOWSHIP: Time to connect and encourage each other.
EVANGELISM: Encouraging each other to Look, Listen and Love for the sake of connecting others to faith in Jesus Christ.

Life Group formats are:
LIFE on LIFE (meeting together one-on-one)
LIFE Groups (a leader with up to 12 others – no end time, ongoing groups)
LIFE Studies (a 6-8 week concentrated study with a beginning and end time)

CARE MINISTRIES

We are a ministry that are the “hands and feet” of Christ: when a need is made known to us, we do our best to meet that need. Sometimes it’s bringing a meal or two to a family who is unable to provide for themselves. We also have made it possible for family members to visit their loved ones who have been hospitalized outside of Hibbing by gifting them with a gas card to make the trip possible.
Care ministry primarily helps those within the church, but we also encourage people to be aware of their friends’ and neighbors’ needs, striving to “share” the love of Christ with them. This is a ministry that everyone can be a part of through prayer, sending a card, or simply calling with a word of encouragement or via monetary donations/preparing of meals.

1 Peter 4:11 speaks of this very issue, “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen”.

SAFE MINISTRIES

This ministry is North Star Church’s process of guarding and protecting all those involved in the church’s ministries. It consists of policies and procedures that the church follows. There is a volunteer application process for all those who wish to be a leader or a helper in ministry, especially those who may work with children or vulnerable adults, and there is mandatory training.

The SAFE Ministries team oversees these policies and procedures and consists of Steve Mekkes, Sue Champion & Anna VanTassel.

If you have any questions or wish for more information, please feel free to contact Steve Mekkes at (218) 929-1196.
